Jazz During Civil Rights Era

The 4th and 5th grade students attended a flute performance and lecture highlighting the impact of jazz during Civil Rights Era.  The performance was held February 2, 2018, at the Beth El Heritage Hall in Helena in observance of Black History Month.  Galen Abdur-Razzaq is a noted performer and lecturer at universities, colleges, and other institutions around the nation and internationally.  His presentation focused on the history of jazz through the past century into the sounds of today and highlighted the intersections of the art form with the political and social movements of the times.
