U of A College of Engineering Visit Math Students

Namula Balami, an engineering ambassador from the University of Arkansas College of Engineering made a visit to BHS on March 1.  Ms. Balani presented information to our Algebra I, Algebra II, Algebra III and Pre Cal/Trig students about what engineering is, how engineering applies to math and science in the real world, and what it’s like to be an engineering student in college.  The visit was also designed to make students aware of the opportunities within U of A and how they prepare students for success in the college of engineering.

Ms. Balani also conducted an engineering activity with our students.  Seen in the photos, students constructed chains from a single sheet of newspaper with no other materials available to them.  They tested the strength of the chains by seeing how many water bottles they could place in a five gallon bucket before breaking.  We would like to thank the University of Arkansas for the informative visit with our math students and we look forward to a return visit.
