Barton District Library is now the proud owner of a vending machine that is not filled with food or drinks, but books! Kids will earn a golden token as a reward for reaching 75% as they progress towards completing their AR goal for the 9 weeks. We believe that the combination of vending books and a personalized reward system could help bridge the gap between literacy and engagement. The main goal is to spark excitement and encourage students to read more. When they spot their favorite genres and titles behind the glass holding between 200-300 books, students are reminded of how exciting books can be as a way to prepare them for the future. Scholastic Dollars earned as profit during the Bookfair will be used to keep the vending machine fully stocked.
