Mrs. Ray's 6th grade GT and Mr. Funk's Fur/Cab 2 students do their annual "Recycled Tin Man Project" each year for a collaboration project. We started our year off by collecting recycled cans for a couple of weeks, then the GT students traveled to the high school shop building to learn how to safely use the hand drills and a drill press. The high school kids seemed just as excited about teaching the elementary kids as they did learning several different skills from the high school experts. Once the holes are all drilled in the cans, the kids begin wiring the Tin Man together. This project has really turned into a positive educational learning experience for everyone involved. Both the elementary and high school students look forward to this project each year.
